Introduce

The world is entering a period of profound transformation driven by the simultaneous forces of globalization, digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), automation, and the rapid advancement of new technologies. These changes are not only reshaping production, business, and management practices but also imposing new demands on higher education—a sector that plays a pivotal role in human resource training, knowledge development, and the promotion of innovation. Globalization is entering a new phase characterized by the expansion of cross-border networks in production, trade, research, and education. Universities are increasingly competing beyond national borders and participating in global education and knowledge ecosystems. Students can pursue studies across multiple countries, curricula can be co-designed by various universities, and research is conducted through international networks, while global enterprises are becoming increasingly involved in training and skills development. Against this backdrop, AI is driving a fundamental shift in higher education. Higher education can no longer simply rely on updating a few courses or adopting new technological tools. Current changes necessitate a comprehensive re-evaluation of curricula, teaching methods, assessment strategies, faculty development, research activities, university-industry partnerships, and university governance models. This issue transcends national boundaries, requiring academic exchange, the sharing of experiences, and international cooperation. In this context, the National Economics University is organizing an international conference themed "Higher Education in the Era of Globalization, Artificial Intelligence, and Automation."

We cordially invite researchers and professionals in fields such as economics, business, and related disciplines to contribute to the conference by presenting papers, engaging in discussions, and participating in thematic sessions. The conference welcomes original research papers that have not been previously published elsewhere. We invite researchers and practitioners to submit their work.

Topics

Topics discussed at the conference may include, but are not limited to:

Admissions-related issues:

  • Demographic factors and alternative options have led to a decline in student enrollment and increased competition among universities.
  • Globalization and the competitive landscape for attracting international students.
  • Leading educational institutions attract global talent and widen the gap between themselves and other universities, thereby contributing to "brain drain" in developing countries.

Financial issues:

  • Pressure from shrinking public budgets is driving the demand for alternative financing models (e.g., research funding, private-sector partnerships, tuition fee increases).
  • The commercialization and internationalization of education have led to rising tuition and living costs, creating barriers to access for disadvantaged groups and placing financial pressure on students.

Academic issues: Affirming the value of higher education in the new context

  • Academic freedom and academic integrity:
    • Issues related to academic freedom, including sensitive topics.
    • Pressure to lower academic standards in pursuit of rankings.
    • Academic Integrity in the AI Era
  • Preserving and transmitting universal intellectual heritage in the era of globalization.
  • Designing training programs in the context of a rapidly changing labor market.
  • Challenges regarding degree standards and international credit recognition

Technology-related issues: Technology reshaping teaching methods and education management.

  • Universities need to adapt to technology and integrate it into teaching methods and new administrative processes.
  • The application of technology in education enhances accessibility and fosters innovation, but it also presents challenges regarding the widening digital divide and the reliability of online education.

Social issues:

  • Ensuring diversity and inclusion in the context of globalization: the pressure of global integration risks leading to the dominance of Western educational models and the erosion of indigenous knowledge and languages.
  • Learner mental health and well-being: the need to enhance support services and resources for learners
